On Tuesday, July 16 Mr. Cephus Johnson dropped in on The Conversation Café™ to discuss The Oscar Grant Foundation, police brutality and the “Fruitvale Station”. He also gave insight into the recent acquittal of George Zimmerman. He admonished each one of us to get involved in efforts to encourage the U.S. Department of Justice to pursue its own criminal case against Zimmerman for violating civil rights or hate crimes statutes in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
The question that The Conversation Café™ poses is “what are you going to do personally?” Each one of us can take action in some manner…write, e-mail or call the U.S. Department of Justice, contact local officials who support your state’s stand-your-ground law, peacefully participate in Rev. Al Sharpton’s 100-City Vigil, or support local organizations who have programs and partnerships in place to bring light to the issues of the day. Get involved and stay involved.
